Research: Structural physics of minerals
Research interests: My research interests in mineralogy range from field studies through experimental investigations of mineral crystal chemistry, structures and stability to quantum mechanical descriptions of bonding and reactions in mineral structures. Using powder and single-crystal X-ray diffractions, X-ray photoelectron, IR, electron microprobe, solid-state reactions, and hydrothermal synthesis, I have been shedding light on the atomic scale response of various minerals (including organic materials) to the pressures and temperatures experienced under the conditions of their formation in the Earth's surface and interior. This provides crucially important information regarding the partitioning and chemical state in the Earth and other planets.

Education:

1997 B.Sc. University of Tsukuba
