メッセージ
 私たちの研究室では、太古代末(約26億年前)から原生代末(約6-5.5億年前)に世界各地で起こった大陸衝突イベントにともなって造山帯の地下深部で形成された岩石(特に高温〜超高温の変成岩)を解析し、岩石中にみられる反応組織や鉱物の化学組成から変成履歴を解明して、当時の地温勾配や全カンブリア時代の地殻進化プロセスを明らかにすることを目標としています。現在の主な調査地域は、汎アフリカ造山帯、インド-マダガスカル-スリランカ-アフリカのグラニュライト岩体、南アフリカ共和国北部のリンポポ岩体、そして東南極のリュツォ・ホルム岩体とナピア岩体です。最近は国内の変成岩についても研究を行っており、阿武隈変成岩、西堂平変成岩、関東山地三波川帯などの研究も学生を中心に行っています。
 令和4年度の研究室の構成員は、教員1人、大学院生博士8人、修士3人、学類生1人です。決して大所帯ではありませんが、研究成果の量では大きな研究室に負けないよう、日々研究と議論を続けています。学生の皆さんも、年1〜2回のペースで学会発表を行い、少なくとも年1本の論文を執筆して科学雑誌に投稿することを目標にがんばっています。
 私たちの研究室では、一緒に研究する仲間を随時募集しています。卒論生、修論生はもちろん、ポスドク、研究生など、変成岩に興味をもつ皆さんからの連絡をお待ちしています。
